William Crowder leads the Comcast Ventures Catalyst Fund, a $20 million early stage venture capital fund focused on investing in diverse entrepreneurs and tech startups with the potential to become industry leaders. Through his involvement with the Fund, Comcast Ventures is building a unique startup portfolio of high value and diversity in the tech space.
William is also a partner at DreamIt Ventures, a leading global startup accelerator. At DreamIt, he has worked with over 60 tech startups, many of which have experienced tremendous growth since launch. In 2011 he spearheaded a joint effort between DreamIt and Comcast to create new opportunities for minority-led startups to participate in the DreamIt experience in New York and Philadelphia. To date, the DreamIt Access program has helped accelerate twenty (20) minority-led startups across the U.S.
Prior to his arrival at Comcast Ventures and DreamIt, William founded Growth Strategy Advisors, a strategic advisory and business development company. At GS Advisors, he was directly involved in the formation and implementation of growth strategies, assessed new business opportunities, and launched new ventures for digital and traditional media companies.
Throughout his professional career he has served as a trusted advisor to senior executives at companies such as AOL, Thomson Reuters, Radio One, Interactive One, and several others. He has over 15 years of strategy and operations consulting experience, many of them with technology and digital media businesses.
In a previous life, William was a software developer specializing in high-speed data networking and large-scale data analytics. He obtained an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He also earned BS and MS degrees in Computer Science from North Carolina State University where he was a SAS Institute Scholar and an IBM research fellow.
